Project 1
DESIGN ELEMENTS
Project 1 is designed to introduce and identify the primary elements of form in the order of their growth from the point to a one-dimensional line, from the line to a two-dimensional plane, and from the plane to a three-dimensional volume. Each element is first considered as a conceptual element, then as a visual element in the vocabulary of architectural design.

REQUIREMENTS
PART 1 – POINTS & LINES (2-DIMENSIONAL: DRAWINGS/SKETCHES)
1. Select 6 different images of interior space of a building (only in portrait orientation) that piqued your interest.
2. Compile the images in A4 size paper layout – 2 interior images on each A4 paper layout. Each of the image should be in A5 size.
3. Identify every POINTS on all 6 images by using DOTS.
4. Construct LINES on all 6 images by connecting the POINTS to create patterns.
PART 2 – PLANES, VOIDS & VOLUME (3-DIMENSIONAL: MODELS)
1. Select 1 image from PART 1 and develop into 3-dimensional 3D model. Image should be printed and pasted on a A5 size base. (foam board, polystyrene board, etc.)
2. Identify the PLANES and VOIDS to create SPACE and VOLUME using shapes and forms within the maximum height of 15cm.
3. Use only geometrical shape and form. (regular & irregular)
4. To produce a minimum of 2 working models or mock-up models before finalizing 1 final model.

REFLECTION
Before I start the project, I was very excited because I never try to build any model out of bamboo sticks. I would like to build a complex model as I always like to venture to the end of my limitation.
The process of forming points and lines from the interior space is amusing because I realized that although some of us were using the same picture, but none of us create the exact same pattern! That indicates everyone see and think differently. So, I tried to create 2 to 3 patterns for some pictures I like so that I can stimulate my creative thinking.
After I finished my second mock-up, I was not satisfied with the arrangement of the vertical bamboo sticks. It is too close and does not show the desire space and volume. I kept Mr. Paul's and Ms. Hanim's advice in mind and started modifying my final model. I spent more time to organize the planes.
Finally, I managed to finish the final model before the deadline. I found it interesting because my model presented different voids and volume from different angles. This project sparks my imagination to build a 3D model with the understanding of the concept of points, lines, planes and forms.
